Loofah have been used for bathing since the days of the pharaohs. Indeed, our whole Loofah are grown in the Nile Delta of Egypt, where they get enough sun and water to reach mammoth size. They provide an invigorating, gentle scrub to exfoliate dead skin and leave it glowing.
Loofah are the fibrous skeletons of fruits from a vegetable in the cucumber and gourd family. The Loofah on the right, not ours, is Loofah acutangula, hard and rough, even when wet. On the left is our Loofah aegyptiaca, which is soft and gentle when wet.
We prefer these genuine Loofah to plastic poufs for numerous reasons—not being plastic is a start. Our Loofah are unbleached. They are shipped to you dried and compressed. Soak one in water for a minute or two, and it will swell to full size. Multi-Use Besides bathing and showering, use these natural sponges sink-side to scrub pots and pans. You'll find Loofah handy for many jobs such as surface cleaning and remove the dead skin, they're kindly abrasive.
